Press release SpotLights February 24th, 2010

This year’s spring, the Light Art Museum in Eindhoven (Kunstlicht in de Kunst) organizes an interactive exhibition. With its own collection as centre point, the museum wants to start up a dialogue with the city of Eindhoven. Various groups will  actively contribute to the presentation.

The exhibition SpotLights, Eindhoven looks at Light Art focuses on everybody’s unique way of experiencing art. With the exhibition, the museum tries to explore the different ways in which every individual looks at art. Five works from the museum’s collection will be put in the spotlights and are the starting point for a brainstorm with the citizens of Eindhoven.

The first group that joins the museum in this experiment are pupils from the Rapenland primary school. During the making of the exhibition they were asked to give their opinion about the five selected works. The main question was: what do I see? It’s this same question that visitors are asked to answer when seeing the exhibition. The results of the sessions with Rapenland and the input the visitors play an important role in the exhibition. Halfway during the exhibition another group of citizens from the city of Eindhoven will be invited to contribute and share their points of view on the exposed works.
