Introduction

Centrum Kunstlicht in de Kunst shows modern art with emphasis on the theme LIGHT, like sculptures and installations in which sources of light are integrated. Not only incandescent lamps, but also neon, fluorescent or phosphorescent paint and LED's find their use in plastic art. In addition, paintings prints and engravings show how light effects can de pictured.

The centre is housed in a Dutch national monument for industrial heritage: The original Philips incandescantlamp factory. Gerard Philips, the founder of the company, to start the production of carbon filament lamps, bought the building g in 1891. The "old factory" is still in the possession of Philips' Lighting Division and is the home of the Centre Kunstlicht in de Kunst since 2001.

The centre has a library and archive in the field of artificial light art, trends in art and lighting. This documentation can be consulted, on appointment, during the opening hours of the secretariat. A small shop for - related - cards, books and presents is also available.
